How will going to college help you achieve your dreams and goals?
College is the higher education I need to improve upon the music skills I have already acquired. It is my dream to become a professional and though some people are lucky and manage to "make it big" by being discovered, I know that college would increase my chances of creating a more solid and certain career. Music is what I love more than just about anything else in the world and I would love to finally be able to focus all of my attention on it. College would help me to specialize my interests and become the musician I have always wanted to be.

Explain who/what in your life has inspired you to go to college.
My mom is an elementary school teacher and so she has always made the importance of college known. She has pushed me to be my best in music, sports, and school and it is because of her that I want to always do what I can to better myself. She is hardworking and resilient and I have learned from her how to be proactive and responsible.

Explain your biggest obstacle to overcome in making college happen and what you're doing to help overcome it.
My biggest obstacle in achieving college is coming up with the money for tuition. My parents are divorced and so my mom is a single parent who doesn't make nearly enough to send both my sister and I to college. In fact, my sister and I are in the same grade and we both hope to be attending college starting next year. This means the financial burden will be twice as heavy for my mom. My sister and I have known this for quite some time now and in an effort to ease the financial blow, we have both been working very hard in and outside of school to be the very best people we can be. Our only logical hope has been to become valuable, good people whom colleges would want. I have made good grades, participated in extra-curricular activities, and relentlessly pursued music. This is how I hope to overcome my biggest obstacle.
